It’s late at night and you can’t sleep. You then hear Cher’s song come on, “If I Could Turn Back Time”, and you would think it’s a commercial to maybe sell music.
But, no, it’s a makeup commercial, to be more specific, a Luminess Airbrush System commercial!
Now, these ladies do talk this product up! But is it as great as they say it is?
Well, you have come to the right place to find out! So let’s have a look, shall we?
The System
They have different systems, but I am doing this review on the Icon Pro because it is the one I have. I don’t think this review would be entirely fair if I didn’t use the system myself to see how well it worked.

If you decide not to keep it, then they guarantee a hassle-free return. I kept mine so I don’t know.
The Makeup
When you place your order, you can either use your camera to take a picture of yourself so they can match you with the right shade or you can pick the shade yourself.
They have 7 different kinds of foundations to choose from depending on what your skincare concerns are and what you want your foundation to do for you.
Silk 4-in-1 Enhanced Airbrush Foundation is the one to be used for anti-aging. This Silk Foundation contains anti-aging serum, primer, high coverage concealer, and the all-day airbrush foundation.
The foundation also contains skin-loving ingredients such as vitamin A and C, cucumber extract, licorice extract, glycerin, hydrolyzed silk, and neem extracts.
The Way It Works
You need to practice using the airbrush system because it does take some getting used to! Luckily they do send an instructional DVD that shows the use, techniques, and how to clean the stylus.
After you have plugged up the machine, you will push the button on top to turn it on. They say it’s whisper-quiet, but it isn’t! Actually, for such a small machine, it’s kind of loud!
The Icon Pro has 2-speed settings. You push the power button once for low, which is for your makeup application. If you push the button a second time, that’s high, which can be used for spray tanning the whole body!
Once you have gotten a feel for the technique, it’s time to practice with the foundation. You are going to want to shake the foundation well before putting it into the well on top of the stylus. You will then start with about 6 drops of the foundation.
Put 4 of your fingers against your face and that’s how far away you will hold the stylus. The trick is to keep moving the stylus in a circular motion all over your face.
If you need another layer, and chances are you will, you have to let it dry completely before going over your face again. I ended up making 3 passes over my face. Also, I had to blend in certain places, especially around the crevices of my nose!
Now, it says it will last all day, right? Wrong! This was not the case for me! It looked terrible by the time I was ready to wash my face. I had even taken extra precautions to keep this from happening. I will try some other tweaks next time, I guess.
Conclusion
First of all, there is a learning curve, but once you learn how to use the machine, it is pretty easy.
Next, even though I didn’t mention it above, it will have to be cleaned, especially if you use it often.
Last, I don’t know if I would recommend the foundation. The website shows they upgraded their foundation, but the ingredients are the same as the one I have.

Even though you are still young, you should at least be wearing an SPF 30 or higher. Damage from the sun will show up later if you don’t start protecting yourself now.
My wife purchased an airbrush a while back and she used it all the time for a while. After a bit of practice, she got really good with them and could do a lot of cool things. I was wondering if the airbush you mentioned here is just for makeup, or if you wanted to could you use normal paint for artwork?
I suppose as long as it doesn’t cause any damage to the stylus it should be fine.
